With a minimalist design approach these rods have everything you need and nothing you don’t. From the reduced footprint the single foot guides to the thread count being kept to the absolute minimum. Along with the lightweight flexiable matte acrylic thread sealant and bonding agent these Classic Loomis blanks are allowed to preform at their optimal.

These rods were designed for and created using a very thin lightweight acrylic resin varnish, guides with the smallest most flexible footprint and the least amount of guide thread and ornamentation as possible.                                                                                      Epoxy being the biggest culprit of rod finishes not only stiffens a blank it dampens sensitivity as its weight loads the rod when casting and its bulk adds air resistance. The type of guides and their rigidity, their mass and footprint all add to how a blank is going to perform. Epoxy has its place with heavier rods casting heavy lures or baits. It's more durable, faster and easier to apply and achieve a "beautiful" finish.   

This moderate action blank being from classic standard modulus graphite lends to having a more controlled feel when casting over a high modulus graphite. With its oversized 1.125" grip  it offers much more casting, retrieving and fighting control than standard fly rod grips. Look at anything "ergonomic" these days and from tools to steering wheels they don't get smaller in diameter and where this rod's control factor really shines.
